For nearly two decades, The Asian American Writers’ Workshop has been a force for great literature. We're a 21st century arts space that can interpret the great tradition of American letters and world literature, broker the space between immigrant communities and the cultural mainstream, and translate the vibrant economies and cultures comprising more than half the world. In fact, just last year, the United Asian American Organizations named us one of the top five Asian American groups in the country. We're dedicated to the belief that Asian American stories deserved to be told. We want to nurture all readers and writers of Asian American literature, whether they’re Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri, whose first book party we hosted, or a struggling young writer just graduating from school. We want you to make a financial contribution that shows that you believe in investing in the future of America--because we believe that every American, no matter the color of their skin, should understand how Asian America forms a central chapter of the American story.

The Asian American Literary Festival will be the only event of its kind—a high-profile celebration of Asian American culture for an audience of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Being a sponsor of the Asian American Literary Festival has its perks:

  • Reach a large & untapped audience. Asian Americans are the fastest growing community in the country. Even though we make up 12% of New York City, we’re not often targeted by conventional marketing efforts. We're arguably the most active Asian American cultural group in New York. We possess an audience of the Asian American Writers Workshop’s 700 paying members and 6,000 person email list.

  • Increase the visibility of your company's support of diversity. We also get 4,000 hits on our website a day and our events have been covered by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, The Huffington Post, and many other media outlets. We've also received significant attention from the Asian American media, including Ningin and Angry Asian Man, the two highest ranked Asian American blogs, and Tsingtao, one of the highest circulating Chinese American newspapers.

  • Nurture diversity, the arts, and understanding across cultures. As National Book Foundation Executive Director Harold Augenbraum, we help many Asian Americans satiate “a hunger they never knew they had: a hunger for literature, cultural recognition, and a connection to their heritage.” We possess a “staunch presence” in the New York cultural scene (AsianWeek).

  • Support our youth programs, which have helped young people find their own voice for more than fifteen years. As the mother of a Workshop youth program student, told us: "After a turbulent year of racism and bullying in his own school, [my son] was delighted to discover a supportive circle of peers at the Workshop. 'I never knew there was a place like this,’ he marveled to me after the first day. ‘I felt like I belonged on the spot.'"

All contributions are tax-deductible. To learn more about the great work we do in the community and in the world of American arts and letters, please click here.
